Renting a Van
Buying a piece of crap on wheels and praying it makes it from London to Calais without exploding isn't your only option.
There are plenty of companies out there who will rent vans for trips around Europe and prices can be pretty reasonable.
Advantages or Renting
When you rent a van you'll also get insurance and that will solve the major problem of finding coverage for your
trip. Getting insurance for an old, converted van that you plan to take all over Europe can be a nightmare and renting will
eliminate that headache. It'll also save you having to sell off your used and abused van at the end or your trip. Plus rental
vans will probably come with some camping gear and roadside coverage which will cut your startup expenses.
Disadvantages of Renting
One of the beautiful things about van tour is the ability to do what you want, when you want. Sometimes this
will mean having a food fight in the front seat, dancing on the roof or playing messy drinking games in the back. With a rental van you'll
have to be a bit more careful and resist the urge to have your friends autograph the bonnet with permanent marker. If you're a reasonably mature
person then this shouldn't be a problem but on van tour, maturity is at a premium.
